Overview 

You will be creating a poster to celebrate next year’s Colorado Dragon Boat Festival held at Sloan’s Lake. Design will be submitted into the contest in the spring for a chance to have your poster used in all of their promotional materials.

• What is Chinese New Year and what are key visual identity elements that can be used?

• How will I use Photoshop/Illustrator in combination with InDesign?

 

Project Requirements 

• Design is created in Photoshop or Illustrator, but all text is laid out in InDesign

• You need to create two different sized pages and design a poster to fit both formats: 11x17 and 18x24”.

Step 1: Brainstorming Steps

1. Create a new folder inside your Final folder and name it “Poster”.

2. Create a new Google Doc inside your project folder and copy and paste the Poster Creative Brief into this new doc.

3. Fill out the top of the Creative Brief and title it by clicking on Untitled Document. 

4. Complete the Creative Brief brainstorming steps. 

 

Step 2: Projects Steps

1. Create a two page document that is 11x17” 

2. Once your file is created open your Pages panel and click on the second page. Change that page size to 18x24” by clicking on the bottom icon.

3. Create the same size Illustrator or Photoshop files and begin creating. 

 

Step 3: Turn In Directions

1. Save your InDesign file as “lastName_Poster”.

2. Export your file as a JPG by going to File>Export and changing the format to JPG. 

        Quality: High

        Resolution: 300

        Color Space: RGB

3. Complete the self-evaluation and grading on the rubric. 

4. Complete and submit the checklist in Schoology.
