Overview

You will apply your knowledge of photo editing to blend multiple images to create a surrealistic styled, dreamlike design. This design must represent you in some way. How can it represent your culture, background, interests, neighborhood, etc?

 

Objective - What is the problem I need to solve?

• How will I create a surrealism based design?

• How will I use copyright free images?

 

Project Requirements

• Concept needs to relate or represent you in some manner. 

• At least 5 images need to be used to create the design.

• Try to use only copyright free images during this project. 

• Designs need to be photo based.

• Remove Background or Select Subject tools can't be used.

 

Project Concepts

• Fantasy landscapes

• Dreamlike unreal animals

• Scale & Perspective - example: humans small or larger than normal 

• Objects morphing into another object

• Combine unexpected objects - example: a fork becomes the legs of an animal

Step 1: Brainstorming Steps

1. Create a new folder in your Final and title it “Surrealism”.

2. Create a new Google Doc and open the Surrealism Creative Brief

3. Select all, copy and paste it into the blank doc. 

4. Title it correctly by just clicking on the Untitled Document at the top.

5. Fill in your name, capitalized, and the period at the top.

6. Complete the brainstorming in the Creative Brief.

 

Step 2: Project Steps

1. Create a Photoshop file 11x17” and 180dpi. 

2. Use many layers to create an elaborate design that showcases your photo editing skills and new Photoshop skills. 

 

Step 3: Turn In Directions

1. If you haven't already, create a new folder in your Final and title it “Surrealism”.

2. Save a Photoshop file as “lastName_Surrealism” by going to File>Save As.

3. Go to File>Save A Copy and change the Format to JPEG.

4. Select the highest resolution option selected when you are saving it.

5. Upload the PSD file and JPG file to your project folder.

6. Go to Schoology and complete the checklist in the project folder. 

7. Submit the checklist.
