Robot Character

Objective

You will be creating a robot vector character of your choice. It is key that you show your knowledge of tools like the pathfinder tool, shape builder, fill/stroke, creating shapes and using color theory. Remember that these robots are just a combination of a series of shapes put together to create a complex character. Also, a robot doesn’t need to look like your standard “robot”. Maybe a robot has hair or maybe it is an animal?

Project Requirements

  • Layers are created and are named correctly.

  • A background is created

Project Help

Step 1: Brainstorming Steps

  1. Create a new folder inside your Final folder and name it “Robot”.

  2. Copy and paste the Robot Creative Brief into this new doc.

  3. Put your name and period at the top and click on Untitled Document to name it correctly.

Step 2: Project Steps

  1. Create an AI file that is 8.5x11” or 11x8.5”.

  2. Upload your sketch or reference photo into Illustrator and embed it. Use your sketches to help you create your designs. You will lose points if you don’t do this.

  3. Sketches and reference photos are kept on their own layer so Mr. Wiant can see the original ideas compared to your final design. It is best to lock this layer and name it.

  4. Begin to use your Illustrator knowledge to create your robot and add emotions by using color theory.

Step 3: Turn In Directions

  1. Save an AI file named “lastName_Robots”.

  2. Export your file as a JPG by going to File>Export>Export As and changing the format to JPG. Make sure to check the Use Artboards box on the bottom left.

  3. Save your JPG file using the settings below:

  • Color Model: RGB

  • Quality: 10

  • Resolution: 300

  1. Upload both files and your rubric to your Robot folder.

  2. Complete and submit the final checklist in Schoology. â€‹â€‹â€‹
